Zaynab bint Muhammad (RA) - A remarkable woman


Zaynab bint Muhammad (RA)was the eldest daughter of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his first wife, Khadijah bint Khuwaylid (RA).


Zaynab was born around 590 CE in Mecca, Arabia, when her father was about 30 years old. She was the first child of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and Khadijah.


Zaynab married her maternal cousin, Abu al-Aas ibn al-Rabi', who was a wealthy merchant. The marriage took place before her father Prophet Mohamed (SAW) received his prophethood. Zaynab and Abu al-Aas had one son, Ali ibn Abu al-Aas, and one daughter, Umamah bint Abu al-Aas.


When the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) migrated to Medina in 622 CE, Zaynab remained in Mecca with her husband, who was still a non-Muslim at that time.  Abu al-Aas initially opposed to islam,but later converted to the faith.

 

Zaynab passed away in 630 CE, at the age of around 40, in Medina. Her father, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), performed her funeral prayer and buried her in the Jannat al-Baqi cemetery in Medina.


Zaynab was known for her piety, kindness, and generosity. She was also known for her strong faith and her unwavering support for her father and his message. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) loved and respected her deeply, and she played an important role in his life.
